Uploaded to YouTube by VectronicsAppleWorld, this was part of a series featuring spokesman Dick Cavett, hired by Apple between 1981 and 1983 to be a familiar face promoting a new technology to the mass market (and to try to differentiate Apple’s products from those of their competitors). Talking to a “typical” homemaker, he finds that she is not using her Apple II Plus to store recipes or do home budgeting, but instead is using it for some non-homemaker activities. Notice that Cavett refers to the product as an “Apple Computer”, not an “Apple II”, and in the ad he refers to it as “the appliance for the 80s”. See more about Cavett’s stint with Apple at The Pop History Dig.
